When you choose Pollards for your printing needs, you can rest assured that from start to finish, your order will be produced in an environmentally responsible way. On a daily basis we carry out various operations which demonstrate a duty of care to the environment, through both innovative processing of raw materials and, wherever possible, subsequent treatment of production waste into reusable resources.

Our constant goal is to further reduce the consumption of paper, card, mineral resources and fossil fuels and support the government programmes of reduce, re-use, recycle to minimise the waste sent to landfill. Recently we have significantly reduced our landfill by splitting waste streams to increase the recycled element.

As a print company, we also have the responsibility to reduce our carbon emissions and protect forests by supporting responsible forestry, find out more below.

We provide an auditable process for dealing with our waste so that its impact on the environment is as small as possible, however, we recognise that printing and other actions collectively may have negative effect. Because of this, it is our responsibility to reduce these impacts to a minimum, prevent pollution and be committed to continual improvement in these areas. In order to meet these commitments, we have established a comprehensive Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015).

This enables us to operate in accordance with UK environmental legislation and, where possible, exceed all its relevant regulatory requirements. This policy integrates principles, programmes, techniques and practices into a dynamic management system that guides the Company’s managers and staff to ensure that environment and sustainability are always considered in the performance of their duties.

We have proudly held this certification for the past 15 years and continually monitor control waste and energy usage. Over the past five years we have substantially reduced our carbon footprint while maintaining our clients’ supply chain credentials.

Vegetable based

INKS

We're proud to say that our inks are vegetable based. Vegetable-based inks typically have carriers made from either soy, palm, rice bran, corn, linseed or other vegetable oils making them substantially more environmentally friendly than the traditional counterpart. In recent years, using new technologies we have increased their usage efficiency by over 25 percent!

Carbon Offsetting

Together with the World Land Trust, we’re working towards carbon neutral printing by offering all our clients the option to carbon balance every order. The additional amount directly funds the protection of existing forests and the planting of trees to help capture and lock away the carbon produced in the order process, reducing its carbon footprint and helping mitigate global climate change.
